I don't think Weeks will come to Chicago. since I attended a Krahn brother wedding last year in Chicago, I will NEVER turn drunk to go back in that city again. From Philly I will need at least $1000. plane ticket, hotel, food and money to enter the hall. All the places them far far from each other, taxi is very expensive and hotel and Krahn people in that city don't share.

ULAA did nothing for me as compare to my late President Samuel Doe. I rather attend the SKD foundation in Voorhees, new jersey 45 minutes from Philly then to spend hundreds to embarass myself. Gaye Sleh should be shame of himself to hold an event on the same day SKD Children them having something. if not for SKD he will never see America to get scholarship to come here. He David Karwo, isaac Vowal and all of them in chicago there should be shame including you Torh gbayor. if you guys dont shut up, i will spill plenty things out there so the Augustine Manyeah and fred gwyan will know who they dealing with.

Brother Wright, thank you for you inquiry. However, I believe these questions are all for Mr. Weeks’ to answer. We are getting all the information from him about Mariah holding her inaugural program for her “ULAA” and that Maria heads a ULAA Chicago Chapter and that people are alleging the ULAA has drifted from its principles.

These are all news to me. I know the Organization of Liberian Community in Chicago (OLCI), under the presidency of Gaye D. Sleh years back official joined ULAA. Since that time, I have always seen Mariah at ULAA Assemblies as a delegate of that OLCI; even the Pittsburgh Assembly where she was defeated and cried that she withdrew. That same OLCI today is still a member of ULAA I know and the leaders are adequately represented in all ULAA structures. I do not know the other “ULAA chapter” that Kwame says Mariah heads. I am not even sure Mariah herself is making such a claim.

Also, I have from no other source the Mariah is planning an inauguration. No one has even heard that Mariah held elections in the first place not to talk about inauguration.

As for the allegation of drifting, I suggest we allow Kwame to drifty with that. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. What we know is that the ULAA member chapters that pay dues and contributed to the sustenance are making no such complaints. Kwame can encourage his “some Liberians” to have fun with their opinion.

Always remember Brother Wright, the crab mentality is alive and kicking.

nice piece, Mr. Kessely. as a former ULAA boss, you've kind of cleared my mind on questions I had wanted to ask. who is Maria? is she really having a program in Chicago on the same date Mr. Sleh's program is coming off? if Maria is what Kwame says she is and intends to do, is she heading a ULAA chapter rebellous to the general body Mr. Sleh heads or a different faction of ULAA? mr. Kesselly, are there two factions of ULAA? the sooner the answers to these questions are provided, the better it will be. Mr. Kesselly, Kwame, let's hear.

No Kwame you are not reporting facts, you are in the constant habits of doing bias reporting. Where is Mr. Sleh's speech? A good journalist will always do balance reporting. Just few days ago you carried an article reacting to Mr. Gwyan's article that he wrote, but what you left out was a copy of Mr. Gwyan's Article or an interview from him. Mr. Weeks we are not stupid we are all intellectuals and we can read between the lines. From reports eminating from Philadelphia, Mr. Sleh a Grand Gedean heading the all Liberian Union was only trying to encouraged his tribes men/women to tailored some of their expertise toward the activities of ULAA, which is our umbrella organization. I think because of ULAA's role that why she was given a major role by the PA program planners. I beleive before becoming president, Mr. Sleh had attended a lots of ULAA functions and maybe to his surprised Grand Gedeans were non-existence and with his stature now he wants to change that which I dont think is wrong. When did Mr. Collins become so Grand Gedeh oriented, Mr. Collins has alway been an advocate of Grand Gedeans not looking at ourselves as an Island, that we are part of Liberia and we can not isolate ourserves, infact as we speak Mr. Collins is the sitting Vice president of the Liberian community association of Pittsburgh. So why the sudden change of tune, What I see here is a clear hypocrtical gesture on Mr. Collins part. Either he felt embarassed that he was limited to a miniscue role in his major program that sources said netted around 500 persons so you are trying to pick an unecessary fight with Mr. Sleh. Like everyone said this should not have been an issue, but it is now because of your sensational and unjournalistic ways of reporting. And please dont delete my comments because you are also known for that.
Thanks

Kwame,

Thank you for this BIG scoop on ULAA President Sleh's Address. You wrote that:

Evidence of this struggle: on Saturday March 10, the ULAA Illinois Chapter under the leadership of Dr. Mariah Seton will host its own induction event in Chicago, the same city and same day Hon. Gaye Sleh’s is expected to take over the gavel of the other ULAA. In fact, some Liberians continue to argue that ULAA has drifted from its founding principles and has been reduced to a lucrative job-seeking trampoline organization. (unquote)

That is the real breaking news. I also did not know that Mariah heads a “ULAA Illinois Chapter.” Wow, brother man, you know so much about ULAA. By the way what is the official name of the ULAA Illinois Chapter and who is the current President? Mariah Seton? Does she currently head any organization in Illinois in the first place? Who is she inducting this time around? Herself for the THIRD TERM?

Ummh, Kwame says some Liberians argue that ULAA has drifted from its founding principles. Which one of the ULAAs drifted? Mariah’s or Gaye’s? You have to remember that you have TWO now. Are these Liberians the members of the various ULAA member chapters around the United States whose chapters pay the dues that sustain the Union?

Oh, Kwame says Gaye Sleh “is expected to take over the gavel of the other ULAA.” So is Gaye Sleh alone going to have two ULAAs by himself? I thought he already took the gavel of one ULAA in East Orange, New Jersey, on November 5, 2011. Wonders never cease!!!

I don’t know why Mariah Seton is not announcing her Chicago March 10, 2012 event by herself. Why is it only you, Kwame Weeks, that is leaking out this tightly held “secret?”

Just to say hi, Buddy.

Read the transcript of Hon Chris Bailey. He was right when he said Krahn destroys themselves especially when there's peace by allowing the enemy to use them against each other but they unite in time of war. Just my take! My candid advise to Gaye Sleh: you will not enjoy your tenure in this trouble ULAA if you take the fight to your backyard instead of Benjamin Larsah Athurson or Dr. Mariah Seton. We all know how you got those delegates that made you president of ULAA today. So watch out and don't allow those other tribes to make you hurt yourself.

You are right Nathan but what you didnt do is this. Tell Gaye sleh that it was Krahn man that pay his school fees and not ULAA. We krahn people do not need ULAA to survive here in America. Let him must not come among us to divide us as our son. When Anthony Kessely begin president he did not call for mandingo people to join himalone. Bai Gbala never call for Krahn people to koin him neither did Watson did. We all happy for him to be president of ULAA but we dont have to support any ULAA thing because ULAA never do anything for before. All ULAA do is fight and divide Liberians. What did ULAA do for our son George Boley? Sleh never visit before calling him because they are all cowards. Collins is the best president we ever have. Go and see our new website and other white people this boy working with. According to Torh Gbayor, Sleh tell Manyeah to disrespect his boss? Augustine Manyeah may not be educated but that boy is not stupid. We dont want ULAA in our community because Sleh. Thank you.

Thank you.

Reading from all of you I think it is disheartening to entertain the in-fighting. We are Grand Gedeans and as such should support one another in every way we can, and not to destroy one another socially and politically. ULAA seems to me as a political institution and its leaders act in such manner even in their public speeches. Away from that, GGAA is a nonprofit institution that has no ties to politics, but rather social and develomental issues. But, I have seen in recent years, that elected leaders of the GGAA on the national level are engaged in politics that is gearing towards the dismantling of this association that so many have fought to put in place. The responsibility of the national president of GGAA at the inauguralceremony should have been a speech that engaged in the encouragement of members of our union to be strong and supportive of their leaders both nationally and chapterwise, but he deviated from that and not only focusing on the ULAA's "leader speech", he responded to the speech in the way that is not beneficial to the program at hand. Let's stop the power struggle and let's focus on what we can do as Grand Gedeans and as a "Social Union"(GGAA)to make our county what we desire it to be; socially uplifting, economically sound, academically motivated, infrastructurally welcoming, and nationally competitive. On the other hand, the social websites that many chapters in the GGAA are operating should reffrain from politics, but rather those sites should be socially informative and not engage in politics of negativity.

From all indication, Mr. Torh Gbayor is confirming the news story. Sleh should not be allowed to transport that ULAA division in the GGAA. I will personally advise Mr. Collins to warn any Chapter Leader who try to align their chapter with ULAA-S. I was on that bus that you Torh Gbayor brought to Rochester for all the old people to vote for their son Sleh. Please don't let some of us to talk. Kwame Weeks only reporting what happen at the event so address the messenger and don't attack the messenger. Even my little child knows that ULAA is divided.

Mr. Weeks, This is to have you inform, and probably correct your information on the Minnesota website that ULAA is under one umbrella under the able leadership of President Gaye D. Sleh Jr. The election that brought President Sleh to power was observed by some governmental representation from Liberia including the Foreign Minister and the Ambassador. Therefore, whoever did not attend the DC convention, and claimed to have another ULAA from a different location is doing so on his/her own.
The keynote speech of Hon. Gaye Sleh Jr (President of ULAA) was aimed at encouraging all Grand Gedeans to get actively involved into the affairs of ULAA. The fact that two ULAA’s Ex-Presidents came from Grand Gedeh County between the 1970s and the 2000s does not mean that Grand Gedeans are actively involved into the affairs of the organization. Moreover, there is nowhere in the President’s speech where it was stated that the local chapters of the Grand Gedeh Association should report to ULAA as you and Hon. Tilman Collins are speculating. If ULAA’s present was felt so much during this past program, it because the PA Chapter allocated all the important functions to ULAA and its local Chapter and, allocated a mare remark to Hon. Collins, who is the National President for the Grand Gedeans.
I also do not know where got your facts from that majority of those that voted Hon. Gaye Sleh to power are Grand Gedeans. This information is a complete deception, because I was in DC throughout the process. Grand Gedeans in attendance at that convention were very handful, considering the number of Grand Gedeans here in the United States. Hon. Gaye Sleh won that election NOT because of the support he enjoy from Grand Gedeans, but because of the foundation he established for himself when he served as both Regional and National Vice President for ULAA. There were a lot of Grand Gedeans including those in Hon. Collins administration that were opposition to Gaye Sleh’s campaign, but he still won the day.
Thanks,
Torh S. Gbayor

All said and done, I understand the position from which Mr. Sleh spoke. as ULAA's prexy, he anticipates a more active support than is being received, particularly from the PA.
I also very much appreciate GGAA's national prexy who not only rectify the legitimate ULAA boss, but assured him of unflinching support, not just as Grand Gedeans, but also mainly as petriotic Liberians.
what Mr. Sleh now needs to do is to ensure that he actively and optimistically rallies all Liberians, regardless of what county they come from, to make sure that Liberians in the USA who have a better and stronger income position can heavily compliment national government's work back home. He should also know that with this position, ULAA stands in the best popsition to positively critique the government back home and offer democratic-based suggestions for our government which tries to practice democracy.

I have just concluded the reading of this interview by Mr. Weeks and the supt. Let me first of all commend Mr. Bailey for his service to our people and whatsoever he has done in his weak way to help revamp the county. However, were there anything Mr. Bailey would have done differently in retrospect? I think so. How about the cultivating of an amicable atmosphere with the county law makers. clearly his response says it all. When in his Bailey's tenure there were no caucus meeting between the law markers and him or among themselves as well. We as a county were fortunate enough to have you as our son, brother etc. to head the county, hence its interest. This meant your exhibition and steadfastness to see how you could liaise with this very law makers as per some of those concession agreements that were crated over night. Whats in it for our people?

On the other hand, I don't think our constitution is crated in stones. I think there should be provision in our constitution that provides widows and widowers for the presidency with some sort of financial incentives for them to live on.Madam Nancy Doe should not live out of benevolence from the pocket of the president as you narrated.Did you encourage our county legislators to sponsor such a bill? Am not sure. Because you guys operated as a house divided. In the end, I think you should have used your leverage to a more consolidated effort for more gains and services for our people.

Finally, please tell your successor or if you are still reappointed, to set your sights on healthcare, farm to market roads and agriculture as priorities for the dear county.
Thank you.
