It gives me good feelings to read about the activitities of the present administration of the Grand Gedeh Association in the americas. i mean these are selfless bunch of people whose interest in serving is the interests of Grand Grdeh and its people. I alway say it. If we are picking people to be a guest speaker, we must pick a Grand Gedean or pick some one who will give us something or who can facilitate for us to get something. But no one was listening. On several occassions we brought former Liberian politicians or scholars to speak to us. These people don't give us anything. In some cases we paid some of them with our hard earned money and sometimes put them in hotels at our expense. That never made any sense to me. Thanks Tillman/Pour Administration, for the progressive change.

Mr. Doe,Jr.

I applaude your heartfelt concerns and how it matters most for you to have spoken out the way you did. However, I want to differ with you on the question of your father owning properties in Liberia. If the Liberian people have conducted statastical analysis involving possessions in Liberia, your father by legal standards would have been denied the assests you have mentioned. Those assests belong to the Liberian people via the Liberian government. The president might exercise humanitarian leverage to award the Doe children something they can consider theirs. But, I believe the presidents owes nothing to the Doe family and cannot be blamed for the seizure of any assests from your family. If the government would conduct a financial audit involving your father's assumed assets, it will be establised that the salary of the president of Liberia including his benefits combined could not have gotten him over two hundred million dollars of assets. Have you thought of that. So, please tailor your concerns through the proper way. I know how you feel but I believe there is something the government can do to address your concerns.

I beg to differ with this new terminology,"Dead chapters" coined by the great Mr. weeks and being echoed by prominent grand gedeans.Mr weeks, when did the chapters start to died? Was it before or after the convention that brought Collins to power or after the Iowa inauguration. If my memory is still serving me right it was not 4 chapter that went to Worster and Des Moines and contributed the tens of thousands of dollar that gave this administrations legs to stand on.I believe it is very, very disingenuous to discredit the goose that laid the golden egg.If you think you are not getting the support of the all the chapters, it could that those chapters want to see how you utilize the resources already entrusted to your care.

Dear Mr. Weeks,
Please allow me to commend you for your tireless effort to inform the people of Grand Gedeh County in the diaspora and at home about development in our association.

My attention was drawn to a response from Mrs. Kannah, our former Secretary of the Board, PA Chapter President, and National President of the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas, Inc. On the question of quaterly financial report, Madam Kannah said,"administratively the National President makes report to the National Board and the National Board makes report to the various Local Board members (whom are sent by their respective presidents) who then reports to their Local Presidents who calls local chapter meetings and conveys the state of our union or message to the body."
For the sake of our reading public and our young Grand Gedeans, I would like to make this correction through this medium. I am not challenging our dynamic fromer president, but am compelled to speak out as a member of the National Board from the great State of Pennsylvania, the seat of the Union.

According to Article-VII, Section 4: The National Treasurer

a) The National Treasurer shall be the Chief Financial Officer of the Association and one of the Signatories to the Association’s bank account(s).

b) He/she shall receive and deposit in the account(s) of the Association all funds and monies belonging to the Association, and maintain accurate records thereof.

c) He/she shall be charged with the responsibility to collect dues, levies, taxation and donations from members, chapters and donors.

d) He/she shall submit quarterly financial reports to the National President who shall furnish copies of same to the local chapters and the chairman of the Board of Directors.

e) He/she shall perform other duties, as may be directed by the President, relative to the financial management of the Association.

f) He/she shall be responsible to prepare or cause to be prepared the Association’s annual tax returns and to ensure the Association’s tax exempt status is kept current.

Thanks,

Dear Kwame:

Always, as an "Elder on the Palm wine tree with the youg . . ." as well as the surviving elder (politician) of of Grand Gedeh County, I resist the temptation to be drawn into petty, political, personal arguments. However, regarding TRUTH for POSTERITY (the history of our County), silence is not an option.

The issue of Dr. George Boley should and must the concern of all patriotic, Grand Gedeans. For it was the courage, bravery and sacrificial action of Dr.. Boley, the Resist-ance Leader of LPC, drove the armed, occupation forces of the NPFL out of our county. As a matter of fact, it was the brave, sacrificial, decisive by of the men and women of the Resistance Movements - the LPC and ULIMO - in "standing tall" to the murderous NPFL, that made possible the relative peace, stability and security that prevail to day in our country.

Mrs. Martha Kannah, former President of our Association USA, may have appealed, privately, to the Liberian President on behalf of Dr. Boley; but there was no march on Washington during her tenure, sa Boakai Boley claims. I know, because I drafted the statement to be presented at the planned march at a meeting at Professor Charles Breeze's home, with several persons present, including the then...

Thanks Mr. Kwame Weeks, great job as always. Mrs. Marth Kanah is a wonderful person. She was there every step of the way. she organized those who avail themselve for the march to DC. it went well. in response to “role ellen played in boley release question” I just want to tell our fellow Grand that president Sirlef did nothing absolutely NOTHING in George Boley case. The world can put me on record for that!

Yes our former dynamic president meet her in new york. Yes the Boley Issue was raised, and Yes in their presence she gived orders to Amb. Nathaniel Barnes to get involve. I made follow up with the embassy many and nothing was done. the ambassador wrote several times to monrovia seeking guidiance and made phone calls that were not returned. so let get this clear. Dr. Boley was deported he was not released. and Ellen had nothing absolutely nothing to do with it! when we send for police clearance to prove that boley was not wanted in liberia we never recieved it. thats the help we got, when we wrote the justice minister about thir inquiry into thee 24months detention of a liberian citizen.

No response is the help they give. So yes let me clear it up Ellen did nothing in this saga. she may have accorded the leadership of the GGAA but it was one of her usual stunts. we are fine. lets see what next. anyone wants prove i will give it to you in a heart beat. stay bless family

I agree with Lloyd. I did not like the article at all, was this man writing on behalf of Grand Gedeh Association or what? What does the celebration of DOE has to do with his execution? We were there to enjoy the celebration of Liberia's greatest President. There is a time and place for everything and people do not want to know whether his children watched his awful betrayal.

Gaye, since you have decided to respond to my piece, let me make this clear to you. The news editorial mentioned that the said individuals did not attend certain ceremonies and meetings. What should have been done here is an attempt to contact those individuals to find out why they stooddown on those events, doing so, would have given the reporter an opportunity for a balanced reporting. And,I maintain that, no one is obligated to be part of sometning if he/she deemed it necessary given the freedom in this country. If that is difficult for your understanding then there is nothing I can do in that regard.

Brother Dennis, what does the writer needs to clarify here? On what basics you are referring this writer to do his homework? Is he not reporting the facts that these people did not attend this event?
The point you made that these people have the right to either grace the occasion or stay away is a very solid one, but i got confused again when you pleaded to the writer to investigate.
Did he lie on them? Let them come up to tell us Grand Gedians that the writer lied on them or they are exercising their rights to stay away.
This self-proclaimed jounalist also knows here in America, reporting the truth have no consequences.

One thing that needs to be realized is:This country is a freed one, and we all are entitled to that right to be part of something or not. Those mentioned in the news editorial have rights to grace an occasion or standdown. However, before reporting on such those self-proclaimed journalists should do their home work by investigating thoroughly before they write. Because, whateve that is written carelessly for the public consumption sometimes has consequences. I think we should learn from this great country's profound journalistic reportings and we will be able to transfer these behaviors to our homeland for betterment.

Mr. Wright, it seems to me that you are confusing 'Editorial' with a 'News' article. What I think the editor did was just expressing his observasion and it doesn't require his jounalistic duty to contact those involved or mentioned in this release. What we should establish here is whether they did attend or not(they have the right if they want to stay away though).
It is incumbent upon these fine individuals to tell the Grand Gedeh community if they attended this event and if they didn't, why?
Do not try to duck the issue here for them. WE NEED ANSWERS from them.
If that was not a BOYCOTT, let them give it a name.

Nelson Gaye Wright 6:24pm Mar 26
I read this editorial and sadly had no reason to believe that the editor gave any room for the resolution of the bad practice he seems to be dazing. throughout the editorial, no mention is made of attempts by the editor to make enquiries from the named parties as to why they were engaged ointo the acts they were now being dazed for.

in journalistic practice, this editorial failed to demonstrate balance as there is only one side to these serious accusations.

the editor didn't stop there, he also put himself in the position of being the campaigner of futher progress for members' future desire to pursue higher office(s). there and then, using his acquired position, he issued journalistic threats to campaign against people for failing to correct actions he had accused them of.

but I believe journalist who assign themselves the task of "Watch-dogging" our communities should exercise extreme patience rather than being as recalcitrant as"George Zimmerman." the editor should have made a case and allow room for those he's dazing to be compelled to come up with a response. he chopse to rather not pursue this channel. I suggest he rather needs to press that "re-set" button. and if what he did can really be described as an attack on personalities, such an attack is not only pathetic, it also has no gaurantee for success.

The article is kind of vague. The nitty gritty of the event was NOT put in focus. However, thanks to the good brother for the interest and efforts. Indeed, many thanks to the children, especially Celue for the occasion. It was a brilliant idea to bring Miss Tarloh on board. Things were a tad rocky because the genesis is always tedious. For it is written in the Holy Bible, "and they shall be led by their children"

This is the path to genuine reconciliation in the beloved Liberia. It is my prayers that this humble initiative perpetuates...
