FOR ALLEGED FRAUD, SOLOMON TARDEY OF KSDA IMPEACHED
admin | Dec 25, 2011 | Comments 9

Former President Solomon Tardey
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Konobo District Association in the Americas Dr. Al Boley on Friday delivered a staggering blow to the political career of Mr. Solomon Tardey; uncovering what he termed as ‘grand larceny and theft’ that robbed the due-payers of thousands of US dollars and instilled a culture of corruption in the organization, a source with close ties to Konobo District Association said.
The source added that the alleged scheme started few days after Tardey’s ascendency to the KSDA high office giving him authority over the finances of the organization. It is established that President Tardey requested bank statements, registrations and a comprehensive financial overhaul from his predecessor James Youboty based on recommendations made by his Sr. Advisor Hon. George Karmie.
Our source who declined to be identified tells MN Web that on Friday December 23 a teleconference was held with a little over 30 persons to investigate allegations of corruption against President Solomon Tardey, his Vice President Cisco Williams and Sr. Advisor George Karmie but the beleaguered Tardey deliberately hung up in the middle of the investigation.
“The task is now upon me as Director of the Board to keep the finances of our association intact,” the Chairman said during his opening statement. He said it has become the tradition of the Konobo District Association since the 2008 confab held in Rhode Island to request bank statements from any sitting president, a tradition he swore to uphold.
Chairman Al Boley said he has written President Tardey on numerous occasions to produce a current bank statement but to no avail. After exhausting all attempts to retrieve said records, Boley then had to go directly to the bank manager who requested legal identifications from him before making the records available. Boley named Mr. Charter as the manager of the bank.
After providing the information requested by the bank manager, Boley was eventually given access to the association’s account which revealed a disturbing trend of withdrawals without the consent of the Board. The bank statement, copy of which is in the possession of the MN Web illustrates; purchasing of airline tickets, groceries, gas and Ms. Angeline Quaye (a non-elected official) as signatory to the account.
“I call you here today to tell you how this president has no regard for the hard due-paying members of this organization; this is an impeachable offense but according to our constitution, Tardey needs to vindicate himself pending this investigation,” a fuming Boley said.
For his part, the former president of the KSDA Mr. Arthur Quaye suggested Solomon Tardey explain what subsequently happened to the association’s funds though he’s innocent until proven guilty.
The high-level source also said Tardey took the stand confidently saying he was going through some family issues but fell short of details.
“We did not in any way refuse to provide the information requested by chairman Boley,” adding, “I will need more time; people need to exercise restraint and I suggest that this meeting be postponed to a later date.” Tardey said.
Observers believe Tardey’s suggestion to have the meeting suspended will be seen by a lot of people as ‘an obvious disregard’ for the KSDA Constitution.
After President Tardey’s remarks, the President of the Pennsylvania Chapter Mr. Alex Yallah said a crime was committed against the people of Konobo District and suggested that Tardey be investigated for what he termed as ‘an apparent intent to deprive the District,’ a view share by other chapter presidents.
For the most part, the prospect of instability within the KSDA worries GGAA National President Tillman Nuahnee Collins; a son of the district who thought Tardey was going to make a difference, a source close to the National President tells MN Web.
Members of the alleged scheme included Vice President Cisco Williams and Advisor George Karmie, both have since denied the allegations.
It is believe that former president James Tarley Youboty sent a manager’s check worth a little over $6000.00 to incoming president Solomon Tardey in Missouri. According to Tardey he spend $100 on October 19 as penalty for closing the previous account at US Bank and $50 for the article of incorporation, leaving him with a total of $5904.22 as initial capital in the new Bank of America account.
His advisor George Karmie who openly apologized to the people of KSDA, said Tardey insulted his intelligence and took him for a ride. According to Karmie, he requested the bank statements from Tardey but was sent a fake statement in the amount of $6492.22 reflecting the account balance, when Tardey knew he had already depleted the KDSA coffers to ($257.11) two hundred fifty-seven dollars and eleven cents.
Why the majority was calling for the prosecution of the impeached president, others were very compassionate and suggested he refunds the association through payroll deduction for fear of frightening donors away.
Meanwhile, it’s confirmed by our source that the investigation is ongoing in its final stage with the focus being placed on the vice president Cisco Williams and whether George Karmie may have played any role in the swindle. Pending the investigation, the vice president was also relieved of his duty and the KSDA is now headed by the Secretary General John Jallahyou Jr. with former president Arthur Quaye serving as head of the task force set up by the board to vigorously recuperate the organization’s funds from Tardey.
According to the KSDA Constitution, the new team will serve as a guiding force to the administration till next election to uphold the constitution.
Article XIII of the KSDA Constitution reads in part: ‘The following shall constitute the line of succession to the presidency of the KSDA a) Whenever the office of the president shall become vacant by the reason of the president inability to serve, resignation, removal from office, or death, the vice president shall succeed, to complete the unexpired term of office. b) Whenever the vice shall be incapable of assuming the duties and function of the office of the president, the sec gen shall assume the office to complete the unexpired term of the president.
This will be the first time in the history of a Liberian-Diaspora organization that a sitting president is impeached and charged by the Board to serve as a deterrent for others to follow.
The MN Web can officially confirm that as of December 24, Mr. Solomon Tardey is no more the president of the KSDA. Stay with us as we follow this story closely to bring you details of the investigation as they unfold.

Bravo to Chairman Al Boley and the gallant people of Konobo District. There has to be an end to this daylight stealing in Liberian diasora organizations. I mean it is unconscienable that some individuals seek these positions to satisfy personal intersts and desires. If it is proven that Solomon Tardey actually used Konobo District’money to pay for personal expensives, he must be prosecuted. It must stop somewhere and I congratulate the people of Konobo for leading the way.

The people of Konobo District Association in the Americas, has empowered the Chairman of the Board of Dircetors, Dr. Al Boley, through constitutional provision to allow the laws of their organization to take its course. We didn’t see the so-called establishement as in the case of “GBARZON DISTRICT ASSOCIATION” that unsung its Board of Directors that has the authority to handle issues arising within the administration.
I believed the action of the “Board of Directors of the Konobo District was overwhelmingly supported by the entire association without the involement of any “FOUNDER or SO-ESTABLISHMENT. I wish to congratulate the people of Konobo District for trusting the “Governing Body/Board of Directors to handle such a sensitive issue without the nosiness of the “Beltway Boys”.
To people of Konobo District, you have done yourself a just cause by respecting, and honoring your constitution. To Mr Solomon Tardy, you have brought shamed, and disgraced to the very people that trusted you to lead. Chairman Boley, thanks for your strong leadership

Those being released with this article that is about KSDA, where tens of thousands of liberians have been talking on things they have no idea about. I will be very much jubilant if people can get the factual part of the story(ies) before they can publish it. What are we talking about my fellow liberians? Please let us get the actual report from those who can negotiate better before sending out information. How did you get this unreliable story? Who did give you this story that you can’t support or better explain? I think the webmaster need to go back and get a fact of his story before he can publish it. When the Konobo Statutory District Association in the Americas board chairman Al Boley, he did not mention all of what you have mentioned in your writing, so you have to go back into your sources to better serve you with good information Kwame Oldpa Weeks. We are not fighting terrorism, but the documents show that KSDA in fact systematically targets.

Dear Sir:
This letter is in part, an attempt to review, why you’ve failed to report/update Grand Gedeans on the funds generated from the pre-inaugural program held in the Commonwealth State of Pennsylvania; couple with the inaugural program held in the state of Iowa.
On the issue of transparency, you’ve promised to introduce a reformist agenda, and exercise a constitutive function. This is neither a fulmination nor a malversation in any form, but an observation that contains truth, if not prima facie assessment.
I hope and pray, you will publish a full-frontal account as soon as possible. May the lord bless you and guard you in your work.
Yours,

My dear brother Solomon N. Tardey, please make a working telephone number available to Mr. Quaye and his team to enable a smooth resolution of this untold financial crisis that you have dragged our noble organization into. Responding without correlation to the issue(s) at bay proves a schizoid-type personality on your part. Kwame Oldpa Weeks has done a marvelous and outstanding service to his readership by reporting this story with 99.999% factuality. Obviously, no one is fighting a terrorist. Instead, we the members and well wishers of KSDA are baffled about the 360 degree u-turn you took within less than five months since your ascendancy to the National Presidency; I think you promised a concocted transparency and accountability for self aggrandizement.
All Mr. Weeks’ sources were right about everything reported in this story. For the purpose of clarity and appropriate dissemination of the right information, Mr. Arthur K. Quaye, who happens to be one of the finest Presidents of KSDA, was appointed to head a ‘Task Force’ with a mandate from the Board of Directors to vigorously pursue you Mr. Solomon Tardey in recuperating the organization’s hard-earned finances. The KSDA National Board of Directors had some missteps in pronouncing the high profiled appointment, which has since been rectified and made clear to the membership through the local Chapters Leaders.
The National Board has a well defined responsibility: To uphold the constitution, and protect the interest and integrity of the organization. The Chairman of the Board, Dr. Al Boley mentioned everything reported by the Minnesota Web. Mr. Tardey, had you stayed and ended the teleconference with your fellow compatriots, you will be in no shape to argue about facts. My friend and brother, the only good and unique thing you can do for KSDA hard-due paying members and it well wishers, is to expedite the refunding of $5647.11 that was withdrawn from the organization’s bank account and siphoned by you within 3 months (10/2011 to 12/2011). A little hint to a wise man is quite sufficient.

It is a very sad day for our organization. I NEVER would imagine, in a thousand years, that our trust was going to be stepped on like this. I pray that Mr. Solo Tardey is in posession of his faculty and I wish him very well in his future endeavors. Something seems abnormal here.
In the same vain, I want to thank our very abled Board of Advisors for a job well done. Indeed, the uttermost interest of THE ASSOCIATION must be protected at all cost. This is nothing personal. I hope Mr. Tardey will understand that nobody hates him. The sooner he refunds our hard-earned money, the better it will be for all of us.
To the rest of my fellow Grand Gedeahs, let this serve as a lesson to take elections VERY SERIOUS. During our tenure as president, we undertook numerous projects to improve the lots of our people. This is the raison d’etre of our organization: TO HELP OUR PEOPLE back home and in the diaspora.
Our administration did all that without any appreciation from detractors. In fact, this very MN web published a plethora of articles to our discredit without mentioning that we were paying teachers and built a modern library in Ziahtown, Konobo District. That library is being used today, by teachers and students from all over Grand Gedeh and Rivergee.
As a result of those negative publications and other misleading factors, Mr. Tardey was elected despite our numerous efforts to assist our people. Consequently, that we’ve come down this this point is a message from the Almighty God. He opens our eyes, like he did to Balaam in the Bible to ‘SEE’. Indeed, The Lord works in a mysterious way…
From the Book of Numbers 22-25, the story of Balaam and the talking donkey is below. Notice the similarity.
Have you ever sensed that God was telling you “No!” to something you wanted to do? But for personal gain or whatever motivation you had, you tried to talk God into doing things your way. Maybe it seemed like you changed God’s mind and He allowed you to go, even though that was not His first choice. How did that turn out? Did it give you peace and a close sense of walking with God?
Well Balaam’s experience was likely one he never forgot! I wasn’t there, but his story is a hard to forget. The next day Balaam saddled up his donkey and began his journey with the officials from Moab. While God allowed him to go, God was clearly not pleased with Balaam. The New Living Translation says God was furious that Balaam was going so he sent the angel of the Lord to stand in the road to block his way. As Balaam and two servants were riding along, Balaam’s donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand. The donkey bolted off the road into a field, but Balaam beat it and turned it back onto the road. Then the angel of the LORD stood at a place where the road narrowed between two vineyard walls. When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, it tried to squeeze by and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall. So Balaam beat the donkey again. Then the angel of the LORD moved farther down the road and stood in a place too narrow for the donkey to get by at all. This time when the donkey saw the angel, it lay down under Balaam. In a fit of rage Balaam beat the animal again with his staff.
At this point the story takes a more dramatic twist. Here comes the talking donkey I mentioned earlier. Then the LORD gave the donkey the ability to speak. “What have I done to you that deserves your beating me three times?” it asked Balaam. “You have made me look like a fool!” Balaam shouted. “If I had a sword with me, I would kill you!” “But I am the same donkey you have ridden all your life,” the donkey answered. “Have I ever done anything like this before?” “No,” Balaam admitted.
Then the LORD opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the roadway with a drawn sword in his hand. Balaam bowed his head and fell face down on the ground before him. “Why did you beat your donkey those three times?” the angel of the LORD demanded. “Look, I have come to block your way because you are stubbornly resisting me. 33 Three times the donkey saw me and shied away; otherwise, I would certainly have killed you by now and spared the donkey.” Then Balaam confessed to the angel of the LORD, “I have sinned. I didn’t realize you were standing in the road to block my way. I will return home if you are against my going.”
You see the similarity here, the Konobo District people have ‘sinned’ by making the wrong choice. Hence, the Almighty stepped in to right this wrong. Let us learn our lesson from this mistake and get back on course.
Happy New Year. May 2012 be good to us all.
Youboty, James
Former President
KSDAA
I am very much shame to see Konobo Statutory District people behaving unbecoming that showing to us who are not Krahn that there is no unity among you all. Is Solomon N. Tardey the first president in the KSDA that carrying on corruption? I believe this organization was founded since 1994 over seventeen years ago and now having $6,052.00 in the account. What did the past presidents do besides James Youboty who built library and upgraded the school in Ziah Town, Konobo statutory District political capital? The man you guys calling Mr. No Nonsense has done nothing doing his three years leadership. He even stole/connected with the board chairman by sending $1000 to Konobo settle the land conflict between Konobo and Putu where everyone did not agreed with the idea. KSDA still having that problem to be settle. We the outsiders are really seeing the disunity among you guys, because East coast dislike the new administration that why you all are into this issue, but you are not only doing this to Solomon Tardey alone is the intire KSDA future you are blocking. Mr. No Nonsense was sent to Liberia on the account of KSDA with some money, clothes and foods but he was unable to give them out to those we needed them what he did is to give them to his own relative now today he is Mr. No nonsense or Mr. Hooped ness.
KSDA you guys should be careful ok. Today now is Solomon N. Tardey, so as you guys so technical on him I hope so shall be or continue. He will be gone from office and you guys are happy about that in this process. May God bless you KSDA to get trillion of dollars from now.
Thanks
Johnson Wallace
Dear Editor Nyenon,
Your piece was well written, with a linear narrative, an immaculate account, and plausible explanation on the spate of this case and other corruption cases. Bravo! you’re right in part, that there are others villains; the good side to Solomon Tardey though, is that he doesn’t lied for long.
Firstly, I must congratulate the editorial staffs of the Independent Eyes News (IEN) including the editorial staffs of the Minnesota Web for staying on top of this story. By helping the people of Konobo District in this way, you’ve just save a child who has no tuition to stay in the class-room. I called the action of both media institutions, a salvageable plan for the underprivileged.
The people of Konobo District have been robbed of their limited resources by a petite criminal only identified as Solomon Nyonbeor Tardey. However, we at Operation We Care For Liberia haven’t concluded our investigation. As you are aware, Mr. Tardey has accepted responsibility for mismanagement of Konobo Statutory District Association funds; couple with ethical failures. See the Independent Eyes News (IEN) alert dated 12.29.11
We were able to identify the gentleman in question and assigned him a corruption tag number as shown below. At the moment, we are looking in-dept into his criminal past; to see what action is appropriate to avoid similar future crime. Please see the databank below:

well i am very disappointed to hear this about my district. but i believe everything happens for a reason. so i think solomon should be giving a break to come up with the money.
And to all those who have a lot to say about this situation, i am very ashamed at you all, especially to the ones using profond languages. if you know it all then keep it to yourself. this whole situation wass blown out of propotion. some of are very happy now, because you lost the election to Solomon Tardey, i feel pitty for you. i live in the east coast, and from what i know, the guys around here dont want anybody else becoming the president of this organization, which is very selffish and childish.
this district consits of 4 sections, anybody can become the leader, just because you lost the election doesnt mean you guys should audit the new administration. i remember when solomon wrote a letter to the board requesting that James Youboty handover the bank account, you guys took it to be an insult, so why you running your mouth in this situation now? or is it because you want the guy to be impeached? well guess what? your dream came true, now what? and i believe you too been spending this organization money personally. so east coast PHD holders, please calm down, we are all from this district not just you, dont be so greedy.. you lost the election, get over it brothers..
Thank you
