GGAA LAUNCHES MATERAL DRIVE

The Kannah/Yonly Administration of the Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas (GGAA), launches what many described as a massive material drive for medical, educational and other essential items for the county in the wake of a pending trip, led by the National President Adolphine Kannah, to the county in April this year.

In an exclusive interview with the Minnesota Web. on Saturday, January 23rd, the Chairman of the Ways, Means and Finance Committee of the Association, Mr. Rancy Wright said materials being sought include blood pressure cuffs, boxes of bandages, cold and hot packs, patient gowns, medical practitioners’ attires among others, for the Martha Tubman Memorial Hospital and its practitioners.

For Educational materials, Mr. Wright listed stationery and other materials including books, pencils, pens, copy books, staple machines & staplers and sharpeners among others. He also named  (new and used) cloth-ens, shoes other footwear and any usable items that may be needed by destitute Grand Gedeans. He made it clear that donations are not limited to the named items.

Mr. Wright emphasized that with the unimaginable destruction of the county and the devastating situation facing many Grand Gedeans still finding it difficult to resettle, help of any kind will be highly appreciated by the Kannah/Yonly Administration and fellow Grand Gedeans back home. He is therefore appealing to all Grand Gedeans and other humanitarian organizations, to donate whatever is necessary, including cash to facilitate the shipment of the expected items to the county.

Chairman Wright stressed that to get this initiative off  the grounds, his Ways, Means & Finance Committee in collaboration with the Women’s Wing Committee, under the leadership of Mrs Comfort Sobah, will on behalf of the GGAA, formerly launch a fund-raiser and supply-drive today January 24, 2010 at 2111 South 66th Street, in Philadelphia at 3: O’ Clock P.M. Mr. Wright said after the launching, the following individuals will always be available to collect cash and whatever material items that may be donated.

He listed those to be contacted as National President, Adolphine Kannah, at (610) 909-0143 and National Secretary-General, Jeremiah G. Sokan, Sr. at (484) 948-9484 or (484) 466-3865. Others are Rancy Wright at (267) 343-3655 or (404) 952-6757 and Women’s Wing Committee National Chair, Comfort Sobah, at (610) 529-1576.

Chairman Wright pointed out to the Minnesota Web that while every member of the ten-member delegation to Grand Gedeh will be footing their air tickets cost to and fro, cash is needed to ship whatever items expected to be collected from Philanthropists  and other well wishers of the GGAA.

I thought this was a nation wide venture to collect supplies and other stuffs for our people back home. Anyway, i guess Mr. Wright is the ways and means chairman for the Grand Gedeh Associations in Philadelphia, as such, everything should be within that confine.
Because of the poor leadership scales of Martha Kannah and her cohorts, they have no ideas as how to get other people involve. Everything should remain within their circles. Why can\’t you get other people other than those you named as contact.
Seconly, you have about ten chapters in this union. What is their involvement? again, poor leadership and poor communications scales. Any rapport with their leaders? I beleive none.
Finally, If this ten man delegate is going to assess situations in Grand Gedeh, why can\’t you wait upon your return before collecting supplies? You might know the people needs and wants after your assessment. That way, I shall call Martha or Jeremiah or you Rancy to come and collect my donation in Iowa, Minnesota or where ever I may be.

  2. Rancy Wright says:

GEE-BA, please in this public manner, I asked you to not politicize this venture, because this is very important for our people as you rightly said in your post. We are not to play politics right now, let us all work together to collect these items and get them to our people.

The reason for collecting is primarily due to the request made by Martha Tubman Memorial hospital in Zwedru and other parts of the county. So, this is not something that the administration just wants to carry out with no justifiable reason.
So again, lets us not politicize this project, instead lets us all promote it so that we can get these items to our people. And also, I commend you for pointing out my oversight, cause without critic like you we might not know our mistakes. So thanks again.

I urged you keep up criticism, but sometimes and on certain something, you have to exercise some restraint and be positive.

I love to be criticized, because criticism helps me to rethink my actions and approach and makes me to be effective in what I do.

    Good Job GEE-BA/Utah.

    Rancy Wright
